Policies and Procedures
Uniform Policy
We will be reinforcing 100% compliance with our school uniform policy as a part of our efforts to continue improving the learning climate and safety of our school. 3-K & Pre-K are exempt from the uniform requirements. The uniform colors are navy blue bottoms (NO JEANS) and grey, white, or burgundy polo tops. Hoodies cannot be worn to school but as an alternative, crew sweatshirts are allowed. Leggings are no longer allowed as uniform attire.
Toy Policy
Students cannot bring toys to school. Toys become a distraction from learning and instruction. Any student, who brings a toy, or a recreational item not utilized for the intent of education and instruction, will have such item confiscated. The teacher or staff member will then call the parent/guardian who will have to pick up the toy from school.
Cell Phone Policy
Students are permitted to bring cell phones to school. Students are NOT permitted to use cell phones during instruction unless otherwise indicated by the teacher. If a student is seen using a cell phone, the device will be confiscated by a school official after the 2nd warning and the parent/guardian will be required to retrieve the device. Students are responsible for their phones. They must secure them upon entering the building
School Based Health Clinic
The school-based health clinic is in room 156 and can be reached by calling 212-860-5882 Ext 1562. We ensure that all children are safe but at times accidents do occur. For the nurse practitioner to treat your child, the necessary forms must be completed in their entirety. In the event your child does not have a completed form then the parent/guardian will be notified to pick-up their child. If the school is unable to reach a parent/guardian, then the decision will be made to take the scholar to emergency care.
Dental Clinic
PS 38 has a dental program from NYU Langone Dental Services. For your child to benefit from these services you must fill out a registration form, which is in the main office or by contacting Ms. Torres, our parent coordinator. If you wish to know more or would like to inquire about your child who is already enrolled, please call Ms. Margarita at 718-630-7963.
